Dr. Ghinwa Dumyati is an Infectious Diseases physician and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She has expertise in the prevention of healthcare associated infections and antibiotic stewardship. She collaborates with the CDC Emerging Infection Program on identifying the burden and risk factors of infectious diseases of public health importance such as C. difficile and antibiotic resistant gram-negative organisms.  Dr. Dumyati led several collaborative quality improvement projects to reduce the burden of healthcare associated infections and helped nursing homes in establishing antibiotic stewardship programs and reduce their use of quinolones.
