Describe the essential elements of USP Chapter <800> Hazardous Drugs
State the difference between USP, OSHA, & NIOSH requirements with respect to Hazardous Drugs
Identify current updates in USP 800
List Available resources to help pharmacist with USP Chapter <800> Hazardous Drugs
State how to determine which size capsule shell to use based on compounding calculations.
List equipment used to make capsules and topicals
State when to use a glass mortar and when to use a porcelain mortar when compounding
Describe techniques used when making topicals, IVs, and capsules
Practice using allegation to calculate the amount of ingredients needed to fulfill a prescription
Calculate the concentration of ingredients on a prescription while using dilution technique
Calculate the number of tablets needed for a compound while using the strength and weight
Choose the correct size IV bag and amount of reconstituted drug to put into an IV bag

Description

Prof. Gonzalez is an Alum of LIU. He has had a distinguished career in community practice having high level positions in management at 3 major chains. He has also been a member of the New York State Board of Pharmacy since 2005. As a board member he has focused on many public health issues as well as community outreach. He joined the college in 2010 and has been involved in the experiential program as a field coordinator as well as taught as an adjunct professor in pharmaceutical sciences teaching various compounding courses. He was promoted to a faculty position in 2017. Prof Gonzalez has also been an outstanding pharmacy spokesman for the profession of pharmacy as well as the college of pharmacy. He has appeared various times on Fox News as a pharmacy expert as well as Readers Digest & Pharmacy Health Executive.
