Elaena Quattrocchi

Description

Dr. Elena Quattrocchi received both her B.S. in Pharmacy and Pharm.D. degree from St. John’s University. She has been an Associate Professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practice at LIU Pharmacy for the past 28 years. Dr.Quattrocchi is a clinical preceptor for Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy at Staten Island University Hospital. She is a member of the Staten Island University Hospital’s Institutional Review Board, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and both the Women’s Auxillary of Staten Island University Hospital and Richmond County Medical Society. Dr. Quattrocchi is co-investigator of several research studies at Staten Island University Hospital. She has started a Health Care Initiative Program at Saint Joseph by the Sea High School in Staten Island where she incorporates the pharmacy students into the educational program. Dr.Quattrocchi maintains a clinical service for the Staten Island University Hospital’s Pediatric Department and provides all their inpatient diabetes education to pediatric diabetics. She serves on the Staten Island chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Board. Dr. Quattrocchi has also served on the NYSCHP board as the Director of Educational services for 5 years, ASHP Council on Educational Affairs, NYSCHP Continuing Competency Committee and the NYS Medicaid DUR Board. Dr. Quattrocchi reviews articles for Current Medical Research and Opinion and Clinical Therapeutics, both are peer reviewed journals.

Dr.Quattrocchi is a member of many professional societies: The American Diabetes Association, The American Association of Diabetic Educators, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, NYS Council of Health System Pharmacists, American Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the American Pharmaceutical Association. She has received many academic awards and honors such as: The David Newton Award for Teaching Excellence, The Founders Award, and a member of Who’s Who Among Executives and Professionals and Cambridge’s Who’s Who. Dr. Quattrocchi is also a Fellow of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (F.A.S.H.P.).

Specialties

Endocrine, especially diabetes management, pediatrics, and collaboration with open-heart surgeons and cardiology.
