Discuss key recommendations from the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) guidelines for the management of asthma
State initial and stepwise pharmacologic treatment strategies for asthma based on current guideline recommendations
Describe patient-specific factors to select appropriate controller and reliever therapies
Identify the role of pharmacists in counseling patients on inhaler technique, adherence, and monitoring to improve asthma outcomes
Maria Longo, PharmD, BCACP, AAHIVP (Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice)
Maria Longo received her PharmD degree from Long Island University. She completed a PGY1 Residency at the NY Harbor VA Healthcare system and a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She joined LIU Pharmacy in 2017 and is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with her practice at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. At Brooklyn Hospital, she also serves as the PGY2 Ambulatory Care residency program director.
